Ladies Guide: List of Fruits High in Sugar

Fruits are good for us! It’s rich in nutrients and fiber we need. But it also has natural sugar, and some fruits have more glucose than the others. Since I’m serious about cutting down my sugar consumption I did a little research what fruits I should avoid or at least eat less.

I was surprised to know that I am overweight after being checked by professional health consultant and I am at my heaviest weight ever, I’m currently 64.42kg! I know, depression (of losing my mama) hit me too hard that I indulged in too much eating. I will see if cutting back on sugary food (e.g. desserts) and fruits that are high in sugar will help.

I think that fruits high in sugar are not our best choice if we’re trying to watch our weight or control our sugar intake. But, if cravings for sweet kick in fruits are still the best choice than any other sweet food. Generally, it’s still important to be mindful of how much sugar we are consuming. Any sugar, even the natural kind, can affect our body’s insulin levels and potentially lead to weight gain and worst is to unwanted diabetes if left unmonitored.

Based on my research here are the top 5 fruits that are high in sugar which I have decided to stop consuming at the moment and focus more on other fruits. The FDA recommends adults to eat two cups of fruit per day, but it’s still depends on your diet goal.

1. Lychee
Serving size: 1.0 cup
Calories: 125
Carbohydrates 31g

2. Grapes
Serving size: 1.0 cup
Calories: 104

3. Mango
Serving size: 1.0 cup (sliced)
Calories: 99
Carbohydrates 25g
Sugar: 23g

4. Cherries
Serving size: 1.0 cup
Calories: 72
Carbohydrates 19g
Sugar: 15g

5. Banana
Serving size: 1.0 1 medium (7” long/118g)

Amongst this list, banana and grapes are consistent in my eating habit. And I’m a bit sad to remove Mango too, since it’s currently in season, so it’s everywhere and it’s cheap. It’s one of my favorites too. Well, sacrifices for the name of getting back up to my normal weight. Wish me luck!
