When I learned that I will be going for a sunset sail dinner cruise at Resorts World Sentosa, I’m quite hesitant not knowing that it really does exists.

It’s a “Tall Ship” transformed into a super fabulous version of her — “The Royal Albatross”. Indeed, it feels like Royal being one of the guests on board, exactly the same ship where HRH Princess Anne ( the only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II) had boarded. Not only that, it was Bruce Wayne private yacht on his 2008 Batman movie, The Dark Knight.

I don’t want you to be as clueless as I am, so keep going as I tour you around. The Royal Albatross started her life in Chicago, cruising the Great Lakes prior to the beginning of an epic journey that brought her to the tropical waters of Southeast Asia.

Founded in 2008, Tall Ship Adventures Pte Ltd is a Singapore-based company dedicated to delivering world-class experiences aboard. In Oct 2016, Sunset Sail began to operate from RWS.

The Royal Albatross is a unique luxury tall ship like no other and resembles an old-world pirate ship from a bygone era. Handcrafted and beautifully maintained inside and out, she is one of the regions premier event and party venues, the largest luxury charter yacht in Singapore by far.

BERTH VIEW

Its three decks feature a grand salon, 5 en-suite cabins, restaurants & bars, and a galley. With a state-of-the-art systems and mood lighting throughout, this luxury Tall Ship makes for an elegant and unique venue to host guests and clients for private and corporate events, weddings, birthdays, marriage proposals (which I’d witnessed for the first time), Sunday lunch, private dining experience (lunch or dinner) and a 2.5-hour romantic sunset sail dinner cruise.

In this 2.5-hour sunset sail, the ship sails around Sentosa island towards St John’s Island before turning towards Marina Bay and back to Sentosa Island.

GRAND SALON (partly)

It’s an air-conditioned lounge on the middle deck which can seat up to 56 guests. And just one floor down is the five en-suite cabins which can sleep up to ten people. But these are only available to guests on the overnight cruise or other private charters.

Upon boarding, each was welcomed by the smiling crews and were given a welcome drink. And at exactly 5:00 pm the Royal Albatross started to sail. Excited as I am with the gentle wind blowing on my face and my mahangin sa labas look (messy hair) I wandered around the 34m long upper deck from stern to bow and took photos in every corner — hahah!

It’s really clean everywhere, even the floors. We all boarded barefooted as shoes are not allowed on the ship as they may damage the external decks made from a special marine cork. There’s a safe place for all the shoes with a tag on it that you can use for claiming once you disembark.

It feels so chill and homey to just walk around barefooted and I’m really impressed that my soles were still clean after the cruise.

I went on to the Grand Salon area and we were ushered to the Cabins to show us the bedroom of the owner. I went back to my table just right when the live acoustic started playing. OMG!!! I love her selection of songs and I secretly wished to Ursula that if I can let go of my feet, I don’t mind having the singer’s voice as an exchange (hahah! kidding!).

I was seated at the upper deck as a Platinum guest, It’s a three-course sit-down dinner.

They first served the salad platter (1 plate/pax) — “Prawn Waldorf Salad” it’s a creamy salad of Prawns, green apple, potatoes, and celery. I didn’t finish it as I’m reserving space for the desserts.

It feels so good to be pampered with good food and drinks while just seated and being served.

MAIN PLATTER (for 2 pax)

The main platter is combination of Roasted AUS Beef Sirloin Au Jus (Served with potatoes), Butter Seasonal Vegetable Atlantic Prawn with Mussels (Mediterranean sesame seasoning), French Chicken Roulade (With wild mushroom sauce), Grilled Corn on Cob in creamy caramel sauce, Sautéed Fine Beans with garlic butter, and Buttery Mashed Potato.

Unfortunately, you can’t ask for a refill if you want more. For our appetite, it’s more than enough.

DESSERT PLATTER (for 2 pax)

Platter of Chocolate Brownie, Mango Pudding with Raspberry Sauce, Mini Lemon Meringue Tart, and Bread Butter Pudding.

This maybe yummy and sweet but I think there’s nothing sweeter than a couple who enjoys their time together while eating and watching the sunset.

NIGHT VIBES

I can’t find the exact words to express how wonderful this experience. It’s a very lovely way to enjoy dinner with your family/friends while cruising and being serenaded. I can’t ask for more! I felt like I was transported to a dreamy place where problems don’t exist (I literally forgot mine, no kidding!). This experience is nothing short of GOOD VIBES. GOOD FOOD. GOOD MUSIC. GOOD WINES. GOOD PEOPLE AROUND.
