Toruk Review: The First Flight by Cirque du Soleil

I saw the poster a month earlier and I exclaimed — “WOW I want to watch it!” It got me very excited as it’s inspired by James Cameron’s “Avatar”, my favorite film!

I’m privileged to watch it on the first day. The moment I stepped inside the Indoor stadium I’m already impressed with the stage and at the back of my mind I know there’s something magical is about to happen.

I was not wrong, I felt like I was brought to the world of Pandora in a visually stunning live setting. My eyes are busy the entire show that I can’t even afford to blink. I don’t want to miss any part of it. It’s a breathtaking experience to witness all the awesome performances of each character, the acrobatic performances and choreography, the multimedia visual effects, projection, set design & props, costumes & makeup, puppets, multicolored kites, music, and voices. It’s SPECTACULAR! It’s the best stage show I’ve ever watched and I would repeatedly watch it.

You’ll experience a storytelling odyssey through a new world of imagination, discovery, and possibility and be transported to the world of Pandora.

Through a riveting fusion of cutting-edge visuals, puppetry and stagecraft buoyed by a soaring cinematic score, Cirque du Soleil applies its unique signature style to James Cameron’s imaginary world and “makes the bond” between two kindred artistic visions that capture the imagination.

This live immersive experience also bears the distinct signature of directors and multimedia innovators Michel Lemieux and Victor Pilon. It is a living ode to the Na’vi’s symbiotic coexistence with nature and their belief in the basic interconnectedness of all living things.

Narrated by a “Na’vi Storyteller” and populated by unforgettable characters, TORUK – The First Flight is a mythical tale set thousands of years before the events depicted in the film AVATAR, and before any humans ever set foot on Pandora.
