I was chatting with my daughter in messenger when she sent me a link, It directs me to the Instagram of Crate Cafe. She asked me if we can visit this hipster place when I’m home. I said why not since it’s along the way to our day trip to Balamban area.
I scheduled the visit same day as our highland tour managed by Easy Wander Travel. On the day of our tour while on our way up, I already saw the cafe. It’s about 15 minutes drive from JY Square Mall. But, I’ve decided to drop by after our tour just right when it’s almost sunset. The best way I know to enjoy a cup of coffee is while watching the sunset.
Crate Cafe opened its door in February 2016, that’s right it’s almost their second year anniversary and there’s a promo I will share below. The cafe is located at Veteran’s Drive Lower Busay Cebu City, just before Maria Luisa Busay Gate. It’s a quaint little coffee shop nestled in the mountainside and just along the main road. The location for me is good, it’s not far from the main City if you just want to escape from the hustle and bustle. And just right to drop by after your laag-laag (visit) to few nearby tourist spots like Sirao Garden Little Amsterdam, Temple of Leah, Mountainview, Tops, and more.
We arrived at the cafe almost 4:30 pm and we ordered straightway away, in less than 10 minutes our coffees and pastries were served. That was fast!
I am enjoying my hot latte while watching the sunset. Isn’t it the place is romantic and relaxing than having your coffee somewhere else crowded and noisy? I won’t trade this moment even for the best coffee place at the metro. I love nature more than coffee.
TINY-HIPSTER SHOP (where you order)
DINING AREA
BLACK MOIST CAKE, MACAPUNO CARROT BAR, & VEGAN DONUTS (from left to right)
The benefit of having daughters, you can use them as your hand models — hehehe!
What we got here are:
Hot Cafe Latte (120 Php)
Made with double shot of espresso and steamed fresh milk.
Iced Mocha Latte (145 Php)
Made with premium dark chocolate sauce, fresh milk and double shot of espresso over ice.
Banana Coffee Caramel (145 Php)
Flavored ice-blended drink with a shot of espresso and topped with fresh whipped cream.
Vegan Donuts topped with Almond and Oreo (70 Php)
Guilt-free vegan treat for everyone (even for the non-vegan).
Authentic Black Moist Cake (100 Php)
Rich, dark, perfectly moist and incredibly decadent Cake that is meticulously crafted to complement your favorite cup of coffee.
Macapuno Carrot Bar (85 Php)
Wheat-free treat made with macapuno (young coconut), grated carrots and cream cheese frosting.
The cafe served both cold and hot coffees, blended coffees, and Italian Sodas. I like that their coffees are not overly sweetened but if you like the sweet one you can always ask for extra sweetener. They have a variety of pastries too as well as vegan donuts for our veganista friends but for non-vegan too. My favorite is vegan donut with almond and I like the Macapuno Carrot Bar too.
Crate Cafe is more than the coffees and pastries, it’s the relaxing feeling you get that you are one with nature. Out of the busy city, no air condition but you have the entire coldness and calmness of nature. That’s incomparable and it’s free. You’re not paying for ambience 😀 because the price of coffee ranges only from PHP 85 to 145 and pastries from PHP 55 to 110. It’s quite reasonable.
Speaking of coldness, I think you should bring a jacket if you plan to hang out at night.
Here’s a TREAT for everyone on it’s up coming anniversary!
