Kaw Kaw SG by Makan State | Hipster Halal Cafe

I’m happy to find this hipster café located at Aliwal Art Center near to the Sultan Mosque.

Aside from music they’re playing, I so love the homey vibes at Kaw Kaw SG,  the rustic interior with the red-bricked walls, and the wooden furnitures (oh, I almost put inside my bag the table set where we were seated – hahaha! ). I really do fell in love with the dining set that I searched for it and I found out that they are also selling those pieces of furniture you’ll see in the café. Well, it’s too expensive for an OFW like me. I can’t spend lavishly on furniture (sigh). There are few vintage things too like TV, radio, sewing machine, display cars, and etc. It’s all for sale.

THE DINING
FOOD – ART – FURNITURE – MUSIC

Their menu is quite impressive too with a selection of Mains from steaks, lamb shank, seared salmon to seafood platter. They have a variety of pasta too and more than 10 kinds of burger to choose. Salads and sides are also available. Aside from ala carte, they have set meals too. While drink menus from teas, coffees, chocolate, juices, soft drinks, and house sodas.

I had the chance to dine and tried few of the food. My picks are fried portobello and seafood platter.

Seafood Platter (S$29.90)

Pan seared seabass, buttered tiger prawns, and squid rings, served with capsium & black pepper gravy and fragrant pilaf rice. The rice alone can be fulfilling, it’s seasoned well.

Fisherman’s Salad (S$15.90)

Mesclun salad mix tossed in a cocktail dressing topped with fried calamari and shrimp.

Smokey Beef Bacon Burger (S$16.90)

Flame grilled beef patty and beef bacon topped with sliced cheddar, jalapeños, and smoky sauce sided with chips and dip.

The patty is tender and juicy with crisp of bacon as you bite.

Black Pepper Smoked Duck Pasta ($21.90)

This pasta is quite spicy, tossed in black pepper sauce served with seared smoked duck.

Fried Portobello (S$9.90)

This is my favorite side! The mushroom is flavourful, crisp outside while soft inside served with mayo dip.

Mac N Cheese (S$9.00)

Another side dish, macaroni cooked in signature cheese sauce topped with beef bacon bits.

Cold Drinks

Cu-Tea, Gentleman Tea, Summer Ready, Pink Sunset, The Hafizz, and Cooling Kit

Which dish would you try?
