Top 3 Beaches in Phuket Thailand

The island of Phuket is the largest in Thailand at 49km long. It has some of Thailand’s most popular beaches which I am sharing with you my Top 3.

It doesn’t feel like an island due to its size and busy community. Aside from that, it’s the home for one of the party capitals of Asia. You’ll know which place as you read along. The island is also home to many high-end seaside resorts, spas, and restaurants. I stayed in a beachfront hotel, just one minute walk to the beach.

3. KATA BEACH

Kata is not so busy as Patong, smaller than Karon. It has a more laidback atmosphere. That’s right! A quiet place to just chill and relax. This is a family-friendly place.

The actual beachfront is dominated by the Club Med. While, with regards to restaurants and bars, there’s nothing much you can find around the beachfront. Most night life is clustered along the back of Kata Road. If you are looking for beach party and food trips this area isn’t for you.

Popular nightlife: RE KA TA Beach, Club Ska Bar, After Beach bar

2. KARON BEACH

Karon beach is my favorite, the only beach I swam in Phuket island. I’m a bit picky with the beach. I like Karon because it’s the cleanest and huge. Even if there’s a lot of people, you don’t feel it’s crowded at all. It features the third longest beach in Phuket Island.

Although there’s nothing much on the main beachfront but Karon is a good place whether you are looking for peace and exciting activities. You can catch the lively small city “Karon Centre” for good choice of dining, shopping, and nightlife entertainment opportunities as well as a beautiful Buddhist temple. While Karon Beach Road is ideal for taking an evening stroll and is mostly occupied by large resorts and restaurants and shops.

There are two hotels right on the beach you should consider if your budget allows, Beyond Resort Karon and Centara Grand Beach Resort Phuket. There are numerous small hotels too all around the place, so finding an accommodation that suits your budget shouldn’t be a problem.

1. PATONG BEACH

Sunset view from my room’s veranda. I got the perfect spot of accommodation in Patong, beach road. Patong Beach is known as one of the party capitals of Asia. It’s  a busy street both day and night. The entire stretch of the beachfront you can easily find a variety of restaurants, bars,  street food, and shopping areas. Everything that I need is just walking distance from my hotel. PUURRFECT for me!

The beach is not as big as Karon but bigger than Kata beach. It’s more crowded with a combination of family and party people enjoying the beach. There’s loud music too at the beach area, where you can enjoy your cold drinks.

Crazy nightlife you can catch along Bangla Road which is closed road during night-time to give way to bars and partygoers. Besides Bangla Road, other interesting night spots along its two main strips – Rat-U-Thit Road and Thaweewong Road (the beach road).

If you’re looking for a quiet place just to chill and meditate, Patong beach is not for you. You can stay either in Kata or Karon beach area. All these three beaches you can enjoy some water activities too.

  2. These are really beneficial tips especially where there are so many beaches around the world. Especially Thailand. Beaches are great places to breakaway from the bustling city for more relaxation and peace of mind and body.

  3. Karon beach was our favourite as it was quieter and cleaner. However, the sunset at Patong beach was truly breathtaking. How did you enjoy Phuket? We had a really great time 😀

  4. Kata Beach is definitely my favorite… I’m all about beaches that are chill and laid back. Although a busier beach with a more party vibe is good sometimes too 🙂
